Preservation and Care
Quality
To ensure your knitwear lasts, NyaMani provides detailed care instructions with every piece. Proper maintenance, including gentle washing and thoughtful storage, helps preserve the life and beauty of your garment. For added convenience, each knitwear purchase includes a care guide and an extra button for repairs (when applicable), reinforcing the brand’s commitment to longevity and sustainability.
At NyaMani, our commitment to sustainability begins at the design phase. Every material is carefully selected with a focus on quality, durability, and environmental responsibility. We prioritize materials that meet certifications such as GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) and FSC (Forest Stewardship Council), ensuring that every piece aligns with our values of ethical craftsmanship.
By designing modern, timeless styles crafted by hand from high-quality materials, we aim to create garments that can be worn year after year. When a piece is no longer needed, we encourage clients to pass it on to someone in need or recycle it responsibly. Read our fiber care guide below to learn more about the materials we use, how they’re made, and how to preserve your NyaMani knitwear for years to come.
Sustainability
Every material at NyaMani is chosen for its quality, sustainability, and longevity. Whether using organic cotton, recycled cashmere, or responsibly sourced wool, we strive to create knitwear that respects the planet while offering timeless design. Each piece is designed to last, promoting a thoughtful approach to fashion that prioritizes enduring quality over fleeting trends.
Materials
Silk
Silk is a biodegradable and renewable natural fiber known for its luxurious feel and durability. It is crafted from silk worm cocoons and requires minimal chemicals, water, and energy in its production. To maintain its integrity, silk garments often require dry cleaning, as indicated on the care label.
Cotton
Cotton is a natural fiber that offers softness, breathability, and moisture-absorbing properties, making it both durable and gentle on the skin. At NyaMani, many of our knitwear pieces are crafted with GOTS-certified organic cotton. This ensures that our cotton is grown and processed under strict environmental and social standards. Cotton garments are best cared for by following the instructions on the care label. Delicate machine washing at 30°C with similar colors is ideal, and tumble drying should be avoided to maintain the fabric’s integrity.
Wool
Wool is a versatile fiber known for its warmth, resilience, and natural breathability. At NyaMani, we source responsibly produced virgin, merino, and mohair wool from trusted suppliers. Wool garments are low-maintenance and rarely need washing. They can often be spot-cleaned or aired out. If washing is required, a cold hand-wash is recommended, ensuring that the garment is dried flat to preserve its shape. Wool items should always be stored folded to prevent stretching.
Cashmere
Cashmere is one of the rarest and most luxurious natural fibers, celebrated for its softness, warmth, and lightness. Our cashmere pieces are made in Italy using 75% recycled cashmere, combining sustainable practices with exceptional quality. Cashmere requires minimal washing and can often be spot-cleaned or aired out. It is important to check the care label for guidance. When necessary, opt for delicate dry cleaning or hand-wash in cold water, avoiding wringing to preserve the fibers. Always dry cashmere flat and store it folded to prevent stretching.
Linen
Linen is a natural fiber derived from the flax plant, prized for its durability, breathability, and lightweight texture. It is inherently sustainable due to its low water and pesticide requirements, making it an eco-friendly choice for timeless garments. Linen softens with wear while retaining its strength, offering comfort and elegance throughout its life. To care for linen pieces, follow the care label instructions. Wash in cold or lukewarm water on a gentle cycle, and air-dry flat to avoid shrinkage or creasing. Linen garments should be stored folded to maintain their shape and longevity.
